The Speaker of the Taraba state House Of Assembly, Petre Abel Diah, has on Sunday resigned his position as the Taraba State Assembly Speaker on personal reasons.

The resignation however, came after several unsuccessful attempts to revert the impeachment plans against him. It is alleged that Gov Darius Ishaku sponsored the impeachment plan against the speaker, however, the Governor has denied such claims.

The relationship between the Governor and the Speaker went sour after a failed attempt by the State Assembly to impeach the governor on the Speaker’s Promoting. The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Joseph Alkinjo, is likely to be sworn in as Speaker today.
